I wont believe it until I see it...

So ...  I wont believe it until I see it... Orlando Moore emailed me today.. to inform me in a VERY short email .. that my check will be cut for the full amount of the repair.. ..

I will believe it when i see it...  Even then this blog will remain until I receive a full apology from both SafeCo as well as Jeannie for the headache & distress that they have caused.. It serves as a warning to others dealing with this company.

I wonder ... how many people will think twice before signing up with this company, after reading true stories such as mine..

Email to Jeannie explaining(again) that the repair would be done by certified mechanics...

From: ME <u.boisestate.edu> Mon, Oct 11, 2010 at 9:01 AM
To: "Burrill, Jeannie" <Jeannie.Burrill@safeco.com>

Jeannie,

As you explained it is not an option to have anyone other than a certified mechanic do the repairs. Therefore I intend on having the repairs done by certified mechanics at a certified shop. More than likely this will be Carl's Cycles Sales, but because I am away from Idaho and my motorcycle for an indefinite period, I have no time frame as to when these repairs will be made. I will be sending the copy of the lien release as soon as I receive it. Please let me know if there are any other holdups that need to be addressed ahead of time in order to further expedite payment.

Safeco Insurance SUCKS..

This blog has started as a is a log of my dealings with Safeco Insurance after my motorcycle was hit by a client of theirs.  However I am opening it up to the public to allow anyone to feel free to post their opinions, and own experiences while dealing with Safeco, if my own dealings are any measure I am quite certain that there will be many .. there are many more out there ...

I responded to Jeanie Burrill's Bullshit email today... She is trying to screw me over.....

Jeannie

Thank you for the clarification on the difference in payment amounts. So I was wondering, could you send the money directly to HSBC instead and have them put it towards the balance on the motorcycle? If so, would you still have to wait for the secondary liens to be removed? If this is possible, I wouldn't mind. That way we can be done with this situation as soon as possible. Please let me know if this is even an option. If not than please just go ahead with the payment issued to HSBC and myself. Thanks again for your time.

My response to Jeannie - Calling her out on her bullshit and demanding payment

From: ME <u.boisestate.edu> Wed, Oct 6, 2010 at 2:22 PM
To: "Burrill, Jeannie" <Jeannie.Burrill@safeco.com>

Jeannie-

On October 12, 2010 the secondary liens on my motorcycle will be released by Ada County Indigent Services, at which point the check for the damages can be released. Furthermore, I am confused about the payment amount $2693.44 that you quoted earlier in an email. I have a copy of the repair estimate done by [REDACTED] on July 30,  2010 as well as the itemized parts list. As far as I understand the correct breakdown is: $2465.44 (parts) + $15.00 (supplies) + $147.93 (sales tax on parts) + $593.40 (8.6 hours of labor at $69/hr). This comes to a total of $3,221.77.

I spoke to my lawyer last night who advised me to demand the full estimate amount of $3,221.77 since this is what it will cost to repair my bike back to the condition it was in before the accident. I also called my insurance company (Geico) and spoke with the claims department. She advised me to call other motorcycle shops to get additional quotes on hourly labor rates. She explained that as long as Carl's rates are similar to the typical rates in the area, I should be expecting payment for the full estimate amount, not at a reduced labor rate. Here is the list of the motorcycle shops in my area, with certified mechanics and their hourly labor rates:
  • Snake River Yamaha (208) 888-6565 $65/hr
  • Grizzly Sports (208) 454-8508 $65/hr
  • Big Twin (208) 336-0367 $69/hr
  • Yamaha Sports Ctr (208) 375-1888 $68/hr
  • Pro Power Performance Inc (208) 685-0185 $70/hr
  • Moto Tech (208) 376-8324 $68/hr
  • Canyon Honda Motorcycles (208) 468-0775 $68/hr

Furthermore she explained that under no circumstances should I be expected to "...provide another bike shop estimate..." as you requested in a previous email. I am not responsible for the damage to my motorcycle, nor should I be expected to pay for any services related to the accident. She also clarified that the payment should be made out as a two party check to either the bike shop of my choice and myself or to HSBC and myself- whichever I prefer.

In addition, I spoke with a representative of HSBC earlier today to clarify their position in the matter. She not only confirmed but advised me to request the full estimate amount be made out to HSBC and myself. This will not only secure payment for damages, but allow me to make repairs at a time that is convenient for me. As I explained to you previously, I am away from Idaho currently and will be absent for an indefinite period of time. Therefore I am formerly requesting payment in the full amount of $3,221.77 be issued to HSBC and myself. My current address is [REDACTED] Granville, Oh 43023. I will have documentation of the secondary lien release shortly after October 12th which I will provide to you as soon as possible so that you can go ahead with payment.

Thank you,

-ME

Safeco's Response back

Burrill, Jeannie <Jeannie.Burrill@safeco.com> Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 8:46 AM
To: ME < u.boisestate.edu>

It is not an option to have the payment issued direct to HSBC for the intent of paying into your loan.

Before payment can be released to you, I need to have documentation to confirm the lien against you has been
released.

Please let me know when this is done so payment can be issued in the amount of $2693.44.
Thank you

Thank you for your response.

Just for clarification, payment issued to you and HSBC will not be for the full estimate amount that was provided by
Carl’s. If you do no provide another bike shop estimate, I will be issuing the payment for repairs based on Carl’s
parts list but at a reduced labor of $30.00/hour.

Payment on repairs made directly to you and HSBC will result in a payment of $2693.44. If you choose to have the
repairs completed at a different certified shop (as required my HSBC), I will need an estimate from that shop.
Please let me know know if you have any further questions.

Thank you

I emailed Jeannie today

From: Me Thu, Sep 9, 2010 at 1:20 PM
To: "Burrill, Jeannie" <Jeannie.Burrill@safeco.com>

Jeannie,

Thank you for getting back to me, I have been traveling and away from internet access. Waiting to issue payment
to HSBC and myself would be best at this point especially because I am away from my motorcycle and Carl's
Cycles. My claim to Ada County Indigent Services has been denied and the 28 days for an appeal to be filled have
begun. I will let you know as soon as the secondary liens are released so that we can go ahead. I don't know the
exact date but it will be early next month. Thank you for your patience.

Jeannie FINALLY emails me back..

Burrill, Jeannie <Jeannie.Burrill@safeco.com> Thu, Sep 2, 2010 at 10:28 AM
To: Me

I apologize for the delayed response.

With regard to your request on delay in payment on your claim, after further review, your options are as follows:
I can provide payment on the claim in the amount of $3221.77 to Carl’s Cycle Sales and you and mail that payment
to you. When you are ready to move forward with the repairs, you can bring the check and bike to them and
endorse the check for them to cash.

-or-

I can wait to issue payment to both you and HSBC for payment on the repairs, once you advise me your lien issue
has been resolved. If this is what you decide to do, please be aware, HSBC will not allow anyone other than
certified mechanics at a certified shop complete the repairs. If you prefer the repairs are performed at another shop,
I will need to get a new estimate for repairs from that shop.
Please let me know what you decide to do or if you have any further questions.

Thank you,

Jeannie Called me on Friday , didn't I tell her to email and not call me?! .. Think I did ...

Jeannie,

I saw you called yesterday (Friday) however as I mentioned I have zero minutes left on my cell phone plan so I am
unable to answer. Please email me the update on the claim situation and hopefully we can continue communication
via e-mail from here on. I am heading back home to Utah to stay with my Dad through this stressful financial time,
so I can call you on his land line sometime this coming week. Otherwise please communicate through e-mail as
much as you can. Thank you again.

Emailed Jeannie Burrill today

From: Me Tue, Aug 24, 2010 at 10:25 PM
To: "Burrill, Jeannie" <Jeannie.Burrill@safeco.com>

Jeanie,
I visited with Toni earlier today after you and I talked and she explained the situation in further detail. The Board for
the Ada County Indigent Services will be deciding on my case on September 7th- although at this point I already
know I will be denied because I am not technically a resident. After September 7th there is a 28 day period for
appeals to be filed. In the meantime there are secondary liens placed on all of my belongings (including the
motorcycle) which is why all payments on my behalf are frozen. Once this period is up, these liens will be
released, at which point the original plan can go ahead to send the check to be endorsed by both HSBC and
myself. I realize this is not an ideal situation but hopefully you are willing to work with me through these odd
circumstances. Please email me back at your earliest convenience. Hopefully this email helps to clear up the
situation. If not, Toni's number is (208) 287-7960 and she can certainly explain everything better. Thank you again
for all of your time and help.
