danslation's Full Review: SAFECO - Auto | |||||||||||||||||||
My car got hit by a car driven by a hot-headed teenage boy insured by Safeco. I was making a legal left turn at a T-intersection after the light had turned yellow and I'd checked to make sure none of the opposite-flowing traffic was about to cross the intersection. However, the teenage driver, coming from at least two car-lengths behind in the opposite direction, abruptly accelerated into the intersection and hit my right rear bumper just as I was completing my left turn. From these circumstances, it seemed obvious that the teenage driver had gone through a red light and that, therefore, Safeco should reimburse me for the damage to my car (over $800 worth). The teenage driver insisted that he had had the right-of-way. I gave a telephone interview with a Safeco adjuster, who told me, "It sounds as if our insured party was at fault -- but we need to do an investigation of the scene of the accident." I said OK and waited a couple weeks for the results. When I called the adjuster back, she said: "Our investigators have determined that you were at fault... I am not permitted to discuss this matter any further." Safeco's arbitrary decision and abrupt cut-off of communication made it clear they had done no real investigation and had simply ruled in their own favor. Recommended: No |
